The Harman Clinic “Pretty in Pink”

“Think Pink for Practice Refurb” is the title of an article in the current Dental Tribune Magazine for Dentists.

Commercial Interior Designers Lima Europe suggested that a mid to light pink would be an ideal colour for a dentist surgery because the colour is both “charming” and has a tranquilising effect” helping patients to relax. A great choice for nervous patients visiting the dentist. The article does go on to warn of the dangers of Hot Pinks or Cerise as it may increase the patient heart rate and respiration.

We picked pink at the Harman Clinic because it was fun and a refreshing change from the acres of mint and aqua associated with current dental surgeries. In reception we have softened the bright pinks with the use of “Walnut”, a greyish chocolate/pink and the use of natural wood. We wanted our environment to feel warm and welcoming. However in our surgery we felt it was important to balance warmth with a clinically clean feel. Our cabinet tops and flooring are white so we can see our surgery is spotless, but we have softened the stark feel on the walls with the use of the same walnut colour we used in reception. Instead of a hot pink we have used a darker aubergine colour on our chairs and cabinet doors. All our surgery lighting is colour corrected and we have wonderful large windows providing floods of natural daylight like the artists studios of the nineteenth century, giving us the ideal artistic working conditions.

Welcome to the Harman Clinic - a refreshing change
